Buyers Still Want Hospitality Businesses

Business
Resource: Articles

The economy feels uncertain right now. A lot of hospitality business owners assume that means it’s a bad time to sell. What we’re seeing on the ground tells a different story.

What it feels like right now

A lot of conversations we’re having right now start the same way. Cafe owners, Restaurant owners – almost any business owner in hospitality mentions the economic backdrop. They talk about how things feel a bit unpredictable. There’s hesitation in the air. It’s natural. When the broader picture looks uncertain, it makes sense that people pause before making a big move like putting a business on the market.

What we are actually seeing

In reality, the buyer activity hasn’t dried up at all. We do this every day, and what’s striking is how many qualified buyers are still actively looking for a hospitality business. They’re out there. They’re serious. They’re making offers.

Hospitality has been one of the most active categories we’ve dealt with in the past couple of years. Cafes, bars, restaurants, accommodation —buyers still want to be in these industries. In many cases, they’re selling faster than the owners expected. That’s not because they got lucky. It’s because there’s genuine demand from people who want to own and operate these businesses.

Why is hospitality still active

Hospitality draws a particular kind of buyer. People who want to be hands-on. People who understand the sector or are drawn to it for community benefit reasons – and they want to be working with people everyday. That appetite hasn’t disappeared just because the economic backdrop feels uncertain. If anything, some buyers see opportunity where others see hesitation.

What this means in practice

The gap between what owners think is happening and what’s actually happening in the market is real. Perception says buyers won’t be interested. The reality is that plenty of hospitality businesses are still finding buyers.

From what we see every day, things are more active than many expect.

The hospitality market still has a lot of energy. If you’re thinking about selling, that’s worth knowing.
