South Australia’s Business Sales Boom

Business
Resource: Articles

South Australia is having a moment, and business sales interest is at a level we haven’t seen in nearly two decades. If selling has been on your radar, this is the moment to let buyers know your business is available.

What we’re seeing

Finn Business Sales is Australia’s largest business sales network, with a team of around 100 people selling businesses across every state, so we get a clear read on where buyer money is moving. The pattern coming out of South Australia at the moment is unusual. Buyer interest is strong from locals and from interstate; the enquiries are coming in faster than we can keep up, and yet a lot of the businesses we hear about from owners in SA never actually make it to market. The opportunity is right there. The supply isn’t catching up.

Why the moment matters

South Australia has plenty going for it right now. House prices sit well below the other east coast capitals, the state government has shown it can deliver on big projects, and the calendar of major events is real. We’ve been operating in South Australia for nearly 20 years, and the level of buyer interest we’re seeing right now is genuinely unusual. Adelaide will host the world’s first MotoGP street circuit race from November 2027, drawing an estimated €130 million ($217 million) in annual economic impact to the state. Interstate buyers can see what’s happening here. They’re picking up the phone, and they’re picking up the phone now.

What this means if selling is on your radar

  • The buyers are here. The question is whether your business will be in front of them.
  • If you’ve been thinking about selling, this is a good moment to let the market know your business is available. Buyer interest this strong doesn’t sit on the shelf forever.
  • You don’t have to do it publicly. We take a business to market without disclosing its identity, so staff, customers and competitors don’t find out. Almost every owner wants it kept under wraps and that’s completely normal.
  • Get a proper valuation done before you go too far. That tells you where you sit and what your business is actually worth to a buyer right now, rather than guessing.

Are you ready to let buyers know your business is available? And do you know what it’s worth to someone who’s actively looking?
